Help Nimbus Arts' Mariposa Mosaic Mural Project take flight! GIVE $10 (or more!) during our fundraising campaign to celebrate our 10th anniversary and the power of community art!
Our generous matching sponsors (Napa Valley Vintners and Backen, Gillam & Kroeger Architects) have each donated $5,000 to multiply the value of your donation and make it even more powerful!
For more than two and a half years, Nimbus has been collaborating with teens from the Mariposa Program to engage the Napa Valley community in an amazing “Hundreds of Hands” mosaic art project. ‘Mariposa,’ Spanish for butterfly, is symbolic of transformation, which is the heart and soul of this inspiring project.
• Phase I: Artists from Nimbus Arts have mentored and taught art and mosaic skills to 36 at-risk teen girls from Napa’s Mariposa Program — a life-changing experience for them all. Together they developed the theme and design for this large-scale mosaic giving a visual voice to the mission of the Mariposa Program and depicting strength, empowerment, and a world free of abuse.
• Phase II: Our Mariposa student artists then guided over 1,000 "hands" - including youth, school and a variety of community groups – to create over 400 beautiful mosaic butterflies that will be included in the mural. Hundreds of individuals and many foundation donors have already been touched and moved to support this powerful project, but YOUR generosity is the only way we can make this transformation complete.
• Phase III: Help us raise funds for the final phase! On Sunday, November 15 from 2-4pm, the butterflies will take flight as we install the 160-square-foot mosaic mural on the walls at the Cope Family Center (707 Randolph Street, Downtown Napa), where it will inspire community members for generations to come.
Please Donate Today!
Nimbus Arts needs your help to raise $15,000 to complete the installation of the Mariposa Mural and $15,000 in additional funds to launch our next “Hundreds of Hands” community art project. We know that the only way we can raise the funds we so urgently need is if YOU participate and give what you can.
Your tax-deductible donation, large or small, is most welcome. It took Hundreds of Hands from across our Napa Valley to create the beautiful mosaic butterflies in the Mariposa mural; please make a donation and add your hands to help them TAKE FLIGHT!
Nimbus Arts’ “Hundreds of Hands” initiative and the Mariposa Mosaic Mural project is produced in collaboration with Cope Family Center and the Napa County Office of Education and is made possible through the generosity of the California Arts Council, the Hansen Family Foundation, the Tulsa and Simone Fund, the Freed Family Fund, Cope Family Center, the Napa Valley Community Foundation, Clif Bar Family Foundation, the Thacher Family Foundation, Centric Building Inc., The Napa County District Attorney’s Office, and community members from across the Napa Valley.
